All you need to know about septic tanks

Septic tank sewage treatment systems provide a very crude method of treating the sewage for properties, which are not connected to the main drainage. There are a lot of septic tanks from around the world that are never maintained. Because of that reason, those tanks never work properly.

Though, there are the pollution control laws exist and for that reason, everyone should keep an eye on this and should get the tanks repaired and cleaned on time as this is important to limit the amount of environmental and health risk they cause. If you are worried about finding out the septic tank service providers, then you can simply search on the Google about septic service near me.
This will help you get in touch with the relevant service providers within few seconds. However, the laws are getting tighter, and minimum standards have been put in place for new and replacement septic systems. In most of the cases, you will have to install a sewage treatment plant system because of that.

In order to prevent a pollution problem, one must consider checking the sewage system prior to purchasing a property by the waste water system expert. There are various type of septic tanks systems available. They normally consist of an underground septic tank in different shapes and sizes.

They also get connected with the soil treatment system. Usually a land drainage system in the form of a soakaway or drainfield, or a mound soakaway are also considered in some cases.

    The way septic tanks work
The raw sewage along with the waste water from the baths, kitchens and other parts of the house discharges into the tank. There the solids are separated from the liquid waste. Fats and oils float on the top of that tank and form a scum. Faeces and food scraps sink to the bottom of that tank and it forms a sludge layer. This sludge is digested up to 70% by the Anerobic bacteria. This bacteria is also know as the natural colonisers.

The dirty septic water flows out of the tank to a soakaway or a drainfield and the baffles or the ‘T’ pipe in the tank helps holding back the floating crust to prevent it entering the outlet of the tank. In order to prevent the sludge and crust layer to become too deep, septic tanks should be emptied annually. This process also prevents a higher and much higher concentration of suspended solids washing out on the drain ground.

The septic tank normally provides the first part of a sewage treatment process. Soakaway is the underground soli treatment system that uses the aerobic bacteria to treat the effluent further. Even the soil type needs to be checked whether that is suitable for a soakaway or not in order to check whether that will work well.

This is the way septic tanks work and in order to make that work properly, one must consider cleaning the tanks annually.
