I love basketball, but I’m not the best player. Well, not in real life anyway. So, when I discovered mobile basketball shooting games, I knew I had found my calling (or, you know, at least a game that I could totally master).
My goal was to find the best of the best; games that I could play again and again and never get bored. And that’s what I’ve done! So, without further ado, here is the list of my favorite three basketball shooting games.
Dunk Shot – Rating: 4.4, Downloads: 10M
Let’s be honest, sometimes we just want to relax, and playing a game can be a great way to do that – at least, in my opinion. Throwing one successful shot after another can be a great way to achieve that relaxation you’re looking for. That’s what you can do with Dunk Shot, and that’s what I love so much about this game. Even if you’re like me and would never be successful at College Basketball, the NCAA or the NBA Finals, it feels really good to sink those stellar shots and watch your score grow higher and higher.
I won’t lie to you, with this game, you are very likely to see a few ads mixed in with the gameplay. I don’t find them particularly obnoxious because I can just exit out of them, but that’s my opinion. You may want to make up your mind for yourself.
Pros: Play basketball
like a pro, compete against your own high score
Cons: There are frequent ads
throughout the game
Overall: As long as you don’t mind
seeing an ad or two, you’ll love relaxing while playing a game that challenges
you at a sport you love
CBS Sports App – Rating: 4.3, Downloads: 10M
Okay, okay, okay, so this technically isn’t a game. However, CBS Sports App will help you keep up with all the basketball games you love to watch, especially NCAA March Madness games. CBS does a really fantastic job at including coverage on all the most popular games as well as providing detailed content that’s focused on March Madness stats both on and offseason. You’re able to easily navigate around the app, no matter what info you’re looking for. You don’t even have to be a subscriber to be able to use the app!
As I said before, CBS tends to focus on the games and stories that are trending, so if you’re interested in a lesser-known team, the updates the app provides may not be exactly what you’re looking for.
Pros: Easy to navigate, all the most popular stories, free even if you’re not a subscriber
Cons: Focus is on trending stories and may not include less popular teams
Overall: As long as you are looking for all the hottest topics, stories, and stats in basketball, this is the app for you!
Basketball Stars – Rating: 4.5, Downloads: 50M
I’m of the opinion that basketball should bring joy to everybody – kids too! If you’re a parent of children and you’d like to introduce basketball to them in an approachable way, start by playing a game that introduces them to all of the greats. You can enjoy quality time with your kiddos as you bond over your favorite sport (not to mention, having a blast playing a game that includes all of your favorite players).
The game has a tendency to freeze every once in a while. When that happens, I just shut down the game and restart it – the problem always seems to resolve itself with that. If you experience the same thing, a simple restart should do the trick.
Pros: Great for adults and children, includes all of your favorite real-life players
Cons: The game occasionally freezes
Overall: As long as you don’t mind implementing the occasional restart, you’ll have a blast with all of your favorites throughout basketball history
