Therefore, open source digital badges are a great way to prove your worth in the companies you are wishing to work with.

    What is a digital badge?

A digital badge showcases the accomplishments, achievements, skill of an individual. It portrays that an individual is skilled enough to carry out a particular task. Digital badges give recognition to your skills and expertise that makes you stand out of the crowd.

Employers view digital badges with respect because these badges provide credibility to the member who completes a certain program. Most importantly, digital badges must address the member’s needs. After you earn a digital badge, you become the owner of your learning achievements. The main reason why members are digital badges is to polish their skills and striving hard to win.

Other benefits that these digital badges provide include-

    ● Display authority in their professional field
    ● Exhibit the hard work taken to earn it
    ● Reveal potential employers that they have the latest knowledge
    ● Share their achievements with peers
    ● Export for display on social media platforms

    How do digital badges work?

There are four players involved in the badging ecosystem- earners, issuers, displayers, and acceptors.

    ● Earners are the individuals who work hard to earn badges. They will only be able to claim the badge if they achieve or complete the requirements stated in the digital badge standards.

    ● Organizations are the issuers of the badges. These include universities, professional organizations, various training programs, and corporations for the great performance of the individual. The issuers use software through which earners can claim their digital badges.

    ● Displayers are the social media platforms that display the badges to showcase the achievements of the individual. These platforms include LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and personal portfolios. These platforms are meant to demonstrate knowledge and provide recognition to the members who will be able to grab big opportunities in the future. This includes new jobs, partnerships, etc.

    ● Acceptors are the individuals and organizations who accept the badges. For example- An employer recognizing the talent of an individual through the badge and then hiring him.

What are the open digital badges?

Open Badges are digital badges that follow open standards and are not controlled by any one organization. They are free and accessible to the world-wide community. These badges contain all the useful information in the metadata such as who, why, and for what the badge was issued. They are transferable which means they can be shared in another environment.

With a plethora of benefits that these digital badges have to serve, it has become crucial to get a digital badge. Get a digital badge and show that you have got the skills for the job role you are looking for!
