Introduction
At Bottini, we cannot wait to start using our grill in the summer. There are so many meals that you can make on the grill that it isn’t even funny. One often overlooked meal is breakfast. We have to admit, at first, when we thought of cooking eggs on the grill, we had images of someone trying to literally crack an egg on the grill and it is falling through. We laughed too long about this image in our head. Well, there are plenty of meals that you can cook on the grill and you will not have to crack an egg on the grates to do it.
Tips for a Grilled Breakfast
The first thing that you need to make sure that you check on is the heat. You are not going to want for your heat to exceed 500°F. Likewise, you are not going to want the majority of your food to come in contact with actual flames. Of course, if you are having sausage links or patties, these are ok to cook on the grill itself.
Your natural instinct when you are using the grill is to use metal tools to work with. In the case of breakfast, you are going to want to use plastic or silicon tools. The reason is that the metal tools are far to rough for a delicate meal like breakfast. Just make sure that you are not exposing them to the heat for too long. They will melt on you and that will not add a great flavor to your meal.
Something else to watch out for is large pools of grease. Since you will be using a grill mat, you will find that the grease will not fall evenly through the grates. If you get a large pool of grease from cooking bacon or sausage, then you will soon have a flare-up. This means that you could wind up burning your food and possibly missing an eyebrow or two. To keep this under control the best thing to have standing by is a few wadded-up paper towels. Take your tongs and grab the paper towels. Quickly soak up the excess grease and discard the towels. They will now be extra flammable.
The last thing we are going to mention is that you need to be creative. Think of the grill mat as your canvas and you are the painter. Paint a beautiful picture of food on your canvas and serve this to your family and friends. There is virtually nothing that is off limits when it comes to cooking on the grill. You may have to get a little creative on how you prepare it. Remember, we did not always have grills or stoves and we managed just fine.
Conclusion
Bottini hopes that we have inspired you to try to cook breakfast on your grill this summer. It will keep the heat out of your house. There is nothing better than the taste of food that has come off your grill. We guess that is the reason that you can’t wait to get grilling each year.
